In loving memory of Barbi Jastrow Hayes.

After a beautiful earthly journey, Barbara Louise Jastrow Hayes passed away peacefully on Sunday November 27, 2022.

Barbara, affectionately known as Barbi, was a beloved member of her community, because she smiled her heart through her eyes and instantly left everyone better. Barbi had that rare quality of having the ability to share her vibe and create a tribe. Anyone who walked through her coffee shop doors, and met Ms. Barbi, (her loving son Corey always by her side!), was instantly brought into the fold. She didn't have customers... she increased her "extended family".

Barbi grew up in Boonton, NJ, then moved her family to Milford, DE where she opened A Second Cup, the first coffee shop and bakery of its kind in the area. Her next adventure was to open If Heaven Had a Flavor in Clayton, DE.

She was an accomplished special education advocate, paralegal, artist and baker extraordinaire. Barbi held a Master’s degree in Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Her life was committed to helping others whether in the classroom, the courts, or the kitchen.

It was at If Heaven Had a Flavor that I met Ms. Barbi and Corey. I love them so much! I think about her daily, she was an incredible soul and mentor. She was a cherished member of her community and beacon of warmth and positivity. Barbi's infectious smile and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who crossed her path.

Matter, energy and love... these cannot be created nor destroyed. She's not gone, She's transformed to essence form and is with us even now. I won't "get over" this or move on from it, but I will embrace her new existence in a higher plane where the physical isn't primary but is nonetheless as real as it ever was. I dedicate the rest of my journey on Earth to impacting others in the positive way Barbi did.
