Hello!

I’m Didi Figueroa, an Autism mom & wife. I’m here to share a bit of my story:

October 14, 2023, I95 North Bound, in Wilmington, DE

I was driving to my Central Office after my last job at a remote job site at 3AM, and I was doing everything right: Seatbelt, mirrors, speed limit, turn signals. Everything. Right.

The loudest sound of metal crushing metal changed EVERYTHING. (Side note: I now have intimate knowledge of what clothes must feel like in the dryer!)

An Epiphany

Like many of you, I had heard the phrase “Life flashed before my eyes”. That didn’t happen to me. I felt… peace. Despite being slammed about, spinning and tumbling, I felt I was going to be OK. I told myself, Didi, you’ve always prepared to die young. But… had I prepared to live?

The Survivor

See, I don’t come from longevity genes. My mom died at 51, dad at 47. I’d experienced rape trauma. Homelessness, multiple divorces that came from low self esteem and poor judgment. I was now married to a disabled husband and parenting a special needs child, after overcoming morbid obesity and a paralyzing injury years ago that left me mobility impaired. So… prepared to live? The truth is, I was surviving.

Another Stumbling Block

Here’s the thing: I saw this as just another stumbling block. Compared to all I had been through, my current situation of teeter tottering on the guardrail was basically a stubbed toe. Rear ended by a hit and run drunk driver, and now my work van was precariously flirting with the cold marsh below? Hold my milkshake, I got this!

No, Really... HOW Though!

But how do you break a cycle of “oopsies” of GRANTED, various degrees of seriousness?

I had tried everything. I was employed at the same company for over 28 years. I had gone to college, owned and rented properties, volunteered at various organizations, and even started multiple businesses, including two I was actively building, all while working 19 hour overnight shifts, wrapped around a 2 hour commute EACH WAY!

No Accident

My friend Lexi called me 3 days after my hit and run accident. She asked, "Didi, are you OK, and How are you feeling?". Then, the question that gave me the biggest moment of total and utter clarity that has changed the trajectory of my life forever. It was a question of profound impact, and it was no accident. She asked with purpose, and was the catalyst to the most incredible journey we were both about to embark. She could not have known:

The Moment of Clarity

She asked, "Didi, If the accident had turned out differently, have you built a legacy for your daughter that would leave her future secure?" OOOOF! What a gut check! Suddenly everything came into focus. I knew Lexi. Let me tell you a little bit about Lexi:

Lexi

Lexi is a friend. She has a love of life, friendship and sharing that makes her an absolute joy. I knew her question was safe, and came from a good place, a place of concern, not judgment.

Lexi herself had been involved in a horrific accident earlier this year. She broke both arms (among many other injuries) and was unable to work. Her recovery was brutal. Just a few weeks earlier she was in surgery related to her injuries. Thankfully, she had a business that helped keep her afloat. She had offered me the business opportunity back in March. I had turned her down. 7 months later, she was a top leader in the company and serving families on a global scale.

The Vision Giver

This time around, I didn’t even ask Lexi what the business opportunity was, I asked for her LINK to sign up! All I knew is, I’d heard 2 things in March that made sense NOW, because it clicked: 1) Global Impact and 2) Legacy Build.

No Longer Afraid

One thing I no longer fear is what will be of my Nani's future when I'm gone. I know how it will be. It will be surrounded by friends she can call family all over the world because she's the daughter of the lady who helped them. Lifting families up globally, who weave a tapestry of protection for my special girl... there is no price I can put on the joy and peace this brings. It really IS life changing to experience this level of certainty... by design!
